TY: Thank you, Yajie On a lighter topic, we'll hear about a computer
maker literally giving away computers! Who says there are no free things
in life?
TY: That was Judy Chen, President and CEO of Asiatotal.net, a Hong Kong-based technology company that distributes portable desk top computers labeled iT free of charge. That's right. Free of charge!
After six years' of study and a career in economics, international management and law, Dr. Judy Chen finally set up her company whose feature asset is that they give out their products for nothing. Is the company expected to generate profits from this?! How can it be possible?
According to Dr. Chen, the first 200 thousand units are set to be dispatched to Brazil over the next few months.
It all seems too good to be true. To find out more about the iT project, I talked to Dr. Chen at a press conference held by Asiatotal.net in Beijing.
Although many people still have doubts over the feasibility of the project and Dr. Chen has remained mum about the exact costs of the project, she was quite optimistic about the future of her business venture. With the voice of a visionary, she outlined the final goal of Asiatotal.net:
"Helping people—people helping people. That's our final goal."
And with that we wrap up this edition of Biz China. We’d like
to have your opinions on our program. Email us at crieng@crifm.com.
This is Tu Yun; thank you for listening. Goodbye, and until next week.
